Marionette controls come in many variations. This control is called an airplane control because of its shape. Specifically, this is an airplane control with a separate foot bar.

The control is made of wood with screw eyes placed at the different points marked by arrows for the strings. The toggle stick at the back has the elbow strings. Shoulder strings are so important to a marionette as they help control the head movement.

Strings can be either black nylon thread (Dacron fishing line) or clear, nylon fishing line. Strings vary in length depending on whether the puppeteer stands on the floor with the puppet or on a catwalk (Bridge) above the stage.
